Sometimes users want to send text message but want the recipient to see the main company number in the caller ID to protect private extensions. (Physicians may want patients to call staff back with questions, for example.) Currently the text sender can use a dropdown to specify Caller ID to be used, but forgetting to use that exposes the extension. Would help if the default Caller ID could be set to the main company number.

Agree. We would also be able to use the company's main number (the one that rings all phones" as what is displayed when we text a client.
You mention in the original post that "the text sender can use a dropdown to specify Caller ID to be used," but we don't even have that option (that we have found). We just chatted with a support rep who confirmed that for text/SMS messages the outbound caller ID is the DID for the sender, with no other option (without adding a second line for that person - which might be do-able for high-level employees but not for the masses).
In short, we would definitely like to have the option to select a different Caller ID (the company's main number) for text/SMS.
Same situation, we're a service business that communicates with clients via SMS and would like to be able to set the outbound SMS caller ID to the Main Company Number by default on both the mobile and desktop RC app installations.
We need the ability to set the default text number. I would like to set the default text number as the Main Company Number.
Texting from the direct number confuses the employeess and customers.
Please let users set a default text number!

Users need the ability to set the default text number. For example, I'd like to set the default text number as the Main Company Number.
Currently, I'll set the Main Company Number, but when the app restarts or updates, it switches back to the Direct Number. If we send a text from the direct number, it confuses the clients, and causes customer service issues for our company.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let users set a default text number!!!

As a Healthcare organization will multiple clinics, we use internally developped apps which use the API for sending texts to patients. It would be great to be able to configure the caller ID of the same user account to the main phone number of our different clinics' (all of which are in the master account) so existing patients would not consider it as SMS spam.
