The custom status also serves to know where the agent is or what they are up to so that the admin would know why they are our or could be on break or such. It is not just relevant with Messages as it is also for productivity in calls.
Agreed. It doesn't make sense why user status would be linked with the ability to use Messages within RingCentral. Users update their status all day to let other team members know more detail about their availability.
