In Call handling, you should be able to forward your phone to another users ext, and have it ring to that persons mobile/desktop app. Currently it only rings to a physical phone.
Had the same experience as Doug. Our employees are going into the service portal and selecting "forward to other's phone" with the expectation the their calls are being forwarded to a coworkers ext. Unless the destination is a physical phone or the RC Phone app the call fails to reach its destination. There are no obvious errors or failure logs. The time spent "troubleshooting" with support was a waste. The request to submit it as a "feature" request was an insult. If the option is available in the service portal for a user to select and it is not working as expected this is a design flaw not a feature enhancement in my opinion.
This is a huge hole in RingCentral functionality. I was told by support that the only way to get a forwarded call to ring the computer is to use the old phone app.
I agree and think this is necessary in this new "work from home" environment.
We need the "forward to other's phones" option to either send calls to the softphone or RingCentral Mobile app. Softphone is an option but calls don't actually ring there.
With so many people working from home these days, those would be a very helpful option. I work in the office 3 days and at home 2 days a week. Direct dial calls come to the RingCentral mobile app and softphone but call forwarding calls do not. They only ring on the actual desk phone on my desk in the office. I don't want to unplug and take my desk phone home each week.
