Customize Voicemail Notifications

For RingCentral Office accounts with HIPAA enabled, the voicemail notifications that come through email contain caller ID name and the phone number.

For additional security and privacy, there should be an option to strip the caller ID information and/or the caller's number from the email notification for voicemails.

This control should be managed by the admin and be applied either account-wide or at the user level.

To meet requirements for HIPAA RingCentral customers and those that are not, we need a notification editor that uses templates that we have full control over. These templates should use variables so we can modify the notifications to meet our company's specific needs. This would allow those with HIPAA requirements to remove PII while other companies can include the details they need to be more efficient.

In my particular case we need to streamline the existing voicemail notifications and add text codes to allow our Service Desk system to better handle incoming tickets created by the email notifications. For example, we absolutely DO NOT want our users trying to install the RingCentral application (IT takes care of that for them). However, every voicemail notification email tells them to install it ("Work from anywhere with the RingCentral app. It's got everything you need to stay connected: team messaging, video meetings and phone - all in one app. Get started").
