Instant Meetings should not reuse titles from previous meetings

PMIs are useful for both scheduled and instant meetings. However, when starting an instant meeting, the title of the IM is set to whatever the previously scheduled meeting title was that used the PMI. This is counter-intuitive for the user and creates security issues because today's instant meeting attendees maybe shouldn't be privvy to the topic of yesterday's IM. Ideally, IMs would always be started with a blank or generic title. If the issue is unclear, please refer to case 12917613 for explicit examples.

I agree with Tim Nichols. We use our PMI for scheduling Calendly. The PMI has no option to give a generic name to the PMI and using a previous or future meeting name is a horrible solution. Need to be able to give it a generic title.

Thanks Rylie. I recognize the workaround you cited. The point is that this is not a useful "feature". What is the use case for having an IM (which inherently has no title as there's no way to supply one on creation) suddenly inherit a title from a previous meeting? This is virually never what you want as a user. If the desire is to have a persistent PMI Meeting title, then the title should be a Settings option (like the PMI itself). Similarly, if I schedule a meeting with a PMI and give it a title, when that meeting starts I would expect it to have the title I created at time of schedule. Instead it grabs the most recent PMI meeting title.

I get from a design perspective how this was built and what it's doing. As a user, I think this creates unexpected and non-intuitive behavior and I'm tired of having my users complain about it.

    Hi Tim!

You can solve this problem by scheduling a meeting with "RingCentral Video Meeting" configured as the Personal Meeting ID. This resets the name for the meetings going forward, avoiding the use of PMIDs with unexpected name.
