As a company we rely on our Microsoft Teams status (NOT RC) to let our team know we are:
away from our desk
on lunch or breaks
in a meeting
on a phone call
We use RC for all calls with our customers and when a team member wants to transfer a call, it is not practical for them to check their Teams status first every time before transferring the RC call.
It is also an ongoing issue of receiving RC calls while on internal Teams calls.
We want our RC users to look at the RC HUD and choose who is available.
To go on lunch, we should not have to set both our Teams and RC status to DND
Also, we could be calling or trying to contact a member via Teams and not realize they are in a phone call on RC.
We did sync our calendar presence with RC, but this ONLY helps when we are booked into a meeting on Teams, not for all the above scenarios. We want RC to recognize Office Status.
MAY 5 2022 UPDATE - Can we please revisit this or have an updated provided? This is still something we very much need put in place.

We were faced with the same problems and therefore developed our own solution. This puts the user in DND as soon as he/she is in a conversation (call or meeting) in both systems, RingCentral and Teams. We have now published this as a commercial SaaS: https://www.ringcentral.com/apps/presence-hub
I couldn't agree more with everyone here. The Teams status needs to show that we're on a call. What's the point of the integration if this isn't a feature?!? If this doesn't get fixed, we may need to switch to another provider. I know Vonage and other competitors have this feature already.
Found my way here, trying to find out how to enable this feature. The fact that there is a RC app for Teams but it doesn't update the status, makes no sense. I constantly get Teams call while I'm on a RingCentral call. This should be a basic feature of integration.
I heard from our sales team, they do have an option but want to charge 4.50 a physical phone to do it. I hope that is not the RC model going forward on new features, that will price them out of our company.
Hello RC team, this sync is key when we want to sell the great integration with Teams.
Here in Europe Teams is everywhere and we have a great opportunity to position RC on top of teams.
But the fact that the user status is not synched is a handicap when we try to sell the integration.
Agreed, our organization would love to have this feature. We were told it would integrate and sync with Teams, so we assumed that meant it would recognize our Teams status but we continually get RC calls when we are already on a Teams call.
Would love this! I have added RC into my Teams app hoping that connection would allow us to share our status from RC to Teams & vice versa, but sadly it is not an option yet.
