Just had a use case, where an employee was trying to find someone in a dept to call, but there isn't an easy way to see who's working. Right now you'd have to start a conversation with each person, or click each person in the company contacts to view the status in their profile. It would make things a lot easier to have this presence state visible in the list view. Bonus if the company contacts could be sorted/grouped by dept.
I totally agree that there should be one status for a user, and that status should be visible anywhere that user is displayed. It is odd to me why a user's status only shows up on the Message screen, but not the Phone or Text screen. It is helpful to know their status with those forms of communication as well. It would be especially helpful for the HUD phone extension list when you need to transfer a call.
There should be one status for a user, and that status should be visible pretty much anywhere that user is displayed.
For example, when I leave for lunch I should be able to set my status to "At lunch." Once I do, if anyone looks me up in a contact list, in the HUD, in a chat thread, to start a meeting... anywhere... it should give an indication of my "out to lunch" status without having to click further.
Agree that we need a "more information" option for statuses as well. In my example above I could set my status to "At lunch" and then add my return time in the "more information" field.
Status choices should be customizable by admins.
The system should alert / set a status based on activity. For example, in my former Avaya IP Office system my status indicator would change from green to yellow if I haven't had any recent keyboard or mouse activity on my computer.
HUD and Dialpad aren't good work arounds for this. The HUD could work in very small companies, but doesn't really scale very well. Each user would need to add people to their HUDs and the lists can get quite long. And the Dialpad won't work, because you have to (off the top of your head) remember everyone's name to type in, one at a time, while on another call. Having this info on the company directory list view makes way more sense.
I think this is what the HUD is intended to be, but it really doesn't seem to be working properly/completely. We want this feature, as well. Really wishing for HUD/presence improvements.
We just came off the Avaya IP Office system, which had a really nice Presence interface. You could see when someone was on the phone or had been away from their computer for 10 minutes, and people could also set their custom status (out to lunch, away from the office, working remote, sick, vacation, in a meeting, etc.).
When we type in name on dial pad there is no indication of users status. It should show something like, Available, DND, Out of Office, Currently on Call, etc.
Our phone systems from 15 years ago showed this basic information. We could easily see if someone was currently on a call or not.
When typing an employee name in the dial pad it shows their status before you call them.
Please fix this !!
It's ridiculous to not see status info at a glance...why do we have to click on a contact first to see this, isn't that the point of having this list?!?!?
In addition to a colored circle, any custom status messages should be displayed at all times as well.
Thank you
Attached is a sample image where, once clicked, status appears. User would like this status indicator applied to entire contact list without need for manual interaction.
