At my instutition all software on computers is centrally managed, including peroidic updates. However the RC Macintosh package performs auto-updates, routinely prompting users for their password to become Administrator. Many of our users do not even have an administrator password, they must cancel out of the dialog. If the user does update, it frustrates our Desktop support organization ,as they are responsible to know the software configuration specifics of every institutional computer.
For Windows, RC provides a non-updating version in a MSI for use by institutions. We recommend RC provide the same package option for Macintosh.
If a non-updating version will not be provided, can RC provide instructions on how to hack the Macintosh version to disable updates.
