Allow the RingCentral App desktop and mobile app to function with Ring Groups

Please allow the RingCentral App to function with Ring Groups, as in, allow the user to be added to a ring group as opposed to a device. Ring Groups offer greater functionality than call queues, especially for a multi-phone store/branch type scenario (hunt/blast group). The only application besides a physical phone that works with Ring Groups is "RC PHONE", which is being sunsetted. We need to offer our workforce more options (mobile app) than just the outdated RC Phone app. Either add this functionality or expand the capabilities of call queues (on standard licensing) to offer the current Ring Group features.

Outstanding. What version of the software should we be looking for to know when this feature is available to us?

Good news! The RingCentral App can be added to a Ring Group starting Feb 1, 2023. Just select "Desktop and mobile apps" when adding a coworker to your ring list. General availability begins Feb 1 and rollout is expected to complete mid-March.

Will this feature ring a coworker who is using RC App?

    • Yes. This feature will ring all of the coworker’s soft clients, including RC App Desktop, RC App Mobile, RC App Web and RC Phone Desktop simultaneously.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed but this functionality appears to have been added. I'm now able to add a user to a ring group using their 'Desktop and Mobile Apps' device. I have tested and it works as expected with the RingCentral App. Huge improvement and feature addition and I didn't hear anything about it being implemented.

Hey Ring Central, how about pushing the pause button on all the New Cool Features of the new RC App until you get the basic functionality of the Old app updated to the new. We need Ring Groups and or Hunt Groups in the new app so we can upgrade.

Please make ring groups accessible to the MVP desktop app. We just migrated from Mitel and found out that we have to use the old software that is about to sun set because their current soft phone doesn't work with Ring Groups. Please don't lose this functionality, our front desk reception area depends on it! How is it RC doesn't know what a Hunt Group is? Our reception team needs the timing/scheduling of a call queue and the ability to handle multiple calls of a ring group.

It's ridiculous that we're still having to bounce between apps to get the desired functionality to work. They pushed mobility hard during the sales pitches and here we are forced to use outdated (soon to be sunsetted) soft phones on desktop computers (not even on a mobile phone) just so our end users can answer calls to ring groups (50+ branches). We're almost three years in and still no change. The RingCentral MVP desktop and mobile application are constantly being promoted yet they don't even support some of the basic functions of the platform. Incredibly frustrating.

If you aren't going to fix the 'missed call' issue with simultaneous ringing in queues, then at least allow ring group calls to be answered via the RC App and/or mobile! Instructing our users to open multiple apps (don't even get me started on having to deauthorize computers if they happen to move around!) to receive phone calls is becoming painful, and is giving our users a negative experience with Ring Central. If anything at all, an explanation of why this cannot be done would be great.

For some reason when we were installed about a year ago the implementation team setup ring groups for our sales bdc and call queues for our service bdc...not sure why since call flow is similar. This was, obviously, new to us so assumed they were doing right by us.

Recently our offices closed due to inclement weather and management wanted some sales bdc staff to work from home. We found out the hard way that mobile devices utilizing the mobile app would not ring leaving me scrambling to adjust the call routing. This seems very strange to me why this feature wouldn't automatically be available. During all the demos and discussions we had prior to signing the contract it was stated over and over that staff would be able to work from home but there was never any mention of mobile apps not being part of this.

Ring Groups only forward calls to physical phone - not to Softphone/Mobile App?

Merged
This is insane. There is no solution for ringing softphone / mobile app in a ring group, which severely limits call routing and handling when so many people don't have physical phones or work remotely.
