The Share status button should not be tied to Message Tab Shown in Main Navigation permission. Instant messaging and your availability are not the same thing.

This would be really helpful for my organization. Many users are complaining that they cannot share accurate statuses. This is a great answer to that problem except that the organization wants to use a company-approved service for messaging and not the ring central one. So we are stuck between a rock and a hard place with this being tied to messaging.
