For over three hours, I have been working with your IT department trying to resolve what should be a very basic setup for a hybrid employee.
I have an employee who works two days from home and three days in the office. She needs a desktop phone at both locations using the same extension. I came from Ooma, where this was not an issue, and I was specifically told that this type of setup would not be difficult with RingCentral.
Instead, I am now being told that cloning the phone is not possible and that I need to purchase another phone line, assign a second extension, and then somehow merge the two lines for my employee. This process is ridiculous and unnecessarily complicated.
To make matters worse, if the presence feature actually worked properly with a shared line, I would not even be dealing with this issue.
My request is still pending, and I am hoping your team can find a reasonable solution. At this point, though, I am extremely frustrated with the amount of time I have wasted on something that should be simple. I switched from Ooma because I expected RingCentral to provide more functionality and a better business phone system. So far, I am regretting that decision.
