Increase or Customize Active Device Limit for RingCentral App
Summary:
Customer is encountering repeated login conflicts due to the active device limitation when using the RingCentral app across multiple platforms.
Customer Use Case:
The user is a trainer who needs to access the RingCentral app simultaneously across multiple devices and platforms, including:
- Desktop application
- Mobile device
- Microsoft Teams integration
Currently, even with only three active sessions, the user continues to receive the error:
“Account signed in on another device. Phone access lost on this device. Limit active devices and log in again to restore phone functionality.”
This disrupts their ability to conduct training sessions, as phone functionality becomes unavailable.
Problem Statement:
The existing limitation on active devices is restrictive for users with legitimate multi-device workflows, such as trainers, supervisors, or hybrid workers. The system also appears to trigger session conflicts even within expected usage limits.
Requested Enhancement:
- Allow configurable or increased active device/session limits per user or account
- Provide an option for admins to manage or whitelist trusted devices
- Improve session handling to prevent unnecessary forced logouts when within acceptable usage
- Optional: Add visibility into currently active sessions/devices for easier management
Business Impact:
- Prevents disruption during training and live operations
- Improves user experience for multi-device users
- Reduces support cases related to login/session conflicts
- Supports modern hybrid and multi-platform workflows
Additional Notes:
Customer confirmed usage is legitimate and within normal workflow requirements. No indication of credential sharing or misuse.
