The 10-second delay after the call is answered is critical. When the call starts with the call recording prompt on the outgoing message, the call recipient will immediately hang up on the caller. A 10-second delay after the call is answered will allow the caller to identify themselves so the recipient knows it is not a spam call, and will remain on the line through the recording prompt. The recording prompt is critical because employees continually break the law by forgetting to recite the verbal recording disclosure script, and allowing the recording of the call to continue without ever disclosing the recording process. The employee risks personal liability for participating in an unlawful recording. The company (RingCentral customer) risks liability because it operates the recording system (Admin Portal) and the employee is acting on the company's behalf.
