Add Remote Control feature to RC Desktop App - Video
It appears this was a feature in the Meetings App, but is not available in the current version of the Desktop App and our account does not allow us to run Meetings. This is helpful when staff are in a video meeting and they want to hand off control to another presenter or tech support person.

We really need this feature so we can remotely support our team when they are having any IT issues.

We use this feature a lot to support our users, especially in recent times as more and more people are not in person for collaboration or help desk. Please add the ability to pass controls to another participant or host.

Do you have plans to add on a support/desktop share? If not please let me know so I can find an alternative solution.

This is tripling time I spend supporting customers and is fairly basic for a meeting. I'm not sure why the other app was killed off before this was available. PLEASE add this soon.

Many of my meetings involve 3 distinct groups - me as the host, my customer(s), and an outside remote support person. I need for my customer to be able to screen share while allowing remote keyboard control to be granted to the remote support person. This capability worked with RC Meetings, but is not supported in RC Video.

Please add this ASAP. This is a pretty essential feature that is expected with screen sharing applications.

I run a call center, and, there are times when a new user can't get RC to work. Because I can't remotely take over their laptop I can't help. this functionality was available on RC Meetings. This is something I will use.

Please ensure my idea from CUSTCOM-I-1485 is included with this. We do a lot of software installation remotely which requires access to administrative windows that RC meetings doesn't currently allow and we have to have a customer click through the windows for us or enter passwords that they really shouldn't have access to.

One of the biggest problems we run into when offering customer support for our online business is the people who are calling are EXTREMELY computer illiterate. Teaching someone how to use a computer over the phone is both time consuming and obnoxious. It's a giant guessing game because they are trying to explain what they are seeing, however, if you were in the same room as them, it would help immensely to be able to point to their screen and say"scroll here" or "click here". So in today's online world, we have screen sharing, however, you cannot consider this as a simple solution because the person who can't navigate a computer is likely to run into trouble with accessing a screen share session. Apple offers a very simple solution to this problem. Since we are using their OS, they have a simple command you press on your keyboard and it opens their screen share, which is easy enough for anyone to do. I realize this is made simple because it's their OS which gives them more opportunity, but this doesn't mean a relative solution through Ring Central cannot exist. Let's pretend for one second you receive a phone call from a person who is almost entirely computer illiterate. Since you have them on the phone, we know they have found your phone number which means they were likely able to navigate to your Support Page. So imagine a simple button that could be embedded on a web site (or emailed) which would automatically create a unique screen share session. The idea behind this is it makes it simple. A simple click of a button (in lieu of a keyboard command) and a unique session opens . With this perticular screen share, it already has activated the Share command, so you don't need to tell the person how to navigate to the share button. So one click, customer is sharing their screen, and we (the support tech) has a big red arrow on the screen where we can point to a particular spot and tell the customer "click here". Game changer. You're welcome!

This feature needs to be available in the RingCentral desktop app whether you are using Video or Meetings.

I don't understand why I am being directed to enter this as a "community idea" - it is an existing feature of RingCentral Meetings standalone app and should be a part of the RingCentral unified app if RC is insisting on retiring the standalone app. We need to be able to remotely control a participant's computer/screen when on a RingCentral Meeting. Not having this feature is a no-go for the unified app. I manage software installation for our agency and due to the complexity of registry edit commands and the security of account passwords, it is not something I can do by instructing the user to type certain things in themselves with me watching. Not being able to control another user's screen will force us to another platform. It is clear you will eventually migrate away from Meetings and use Video, and this feature must be available in Video as well...if we are still customers to see it.

I am sending you this courtesy email regarding the case 10985627. Here are the answers on your queries. The new RC Video does not allow remote control for attendees - I just got an update from our engineering team that this feature will be available in Q4 this year.We are told by clients that the new RC Video does not work on Apple devices – they are unable to get it to run on Firefox or Safari browsers. Is this limited to Chrome? - Problem with iOS chrome, is that Apple has not made the webRTC API available to other browsers in iOS and only limited to the chrome browser.Let me know if you have further questions. Thank you for choosing RingCentral as your communications provider! Regards, Edgardo Camon JrRingCentral Technical Support - Supervisor
