Centralized RingCentral Data Retention
Summary:
This feature request proposes the implementation of a centralized folder structure for RingCentral data retention. Currently, data such as call recordings and voicemail messages may be scattered across various locations within a user's account, making it difficult to manage and locate specific information.
Problem:
The current RingCentral data retention system lacks a central repository. Call recordings, voicemail messages, and potentially other data types are saved in separate folders or locations within a user's account. This fragmented approach poses challenges for users who need to:
Locate specific data: Sorting through multiple folders to find a particular call recording or voicemail can be time-consuming and inefficient.
Manage data retention: Enacting data retention policies or deleting unwanted data becomes more complex when information is dispersed across various folders.
Proposed Solution:
We propose the development of a centralized folder structure for RingCentral data retention. This would involve:
Creating a dedicated folder: A new folder named "Data Retention" or a similar term could be established at the top level of a user's account hierarchy.
Automatic data routing: All call recordings, voicemail messages, and potentially other designated data types would automatically be saved within this central folder upon creation.
User control: Users should have the ability to further organize data within the central folder by creating subfolders based on specific criteria (e.g., date, project, call participant).
Benefits:
Improved organization: A centralized folder structure would significantly enhance the organization of retained data, making it easier for users to locate specific recordings and messages.
Simplified data management: Implementing a central repository would streamline data retention management tasks such as applying retention policies and deleting unwanted data.
Enhanced user experience: A centralized system would provide a more intuitive and user-friendly experience for managing retained data within RingCentral.
Call to Action:
We encourage the RingCentral team to consider this feature request and its potential benefits for user experience and data management efficiency. We believe a centralized data retention system would be a valuable addition to the RingCentral platform.
Additionally:
This feature request can be submitted on RingCentral Ideas (https://ideas.ringcentral.com/) to gather broader user interest and support.
Specific data types beyond call recordings and voicemail messages can be included in the request based on user needs and potential future functionalities.
