You’ll need to use a supported phone number. Unsupported phone numbers can’t be registered on WhatsApp and include:
VoIP
Landlines
Note: Landlines are only supported on the WhatsApp Business app.
Toll-free numbers
Paid premium numbers
Universal access numbers (UAN)As RingCentral numbers are VOIP, it won't work with Whatsapp out of the box. However, we are trying to figure out on how to support this in future, as this is a popular use case. Will provide an update when we have one.

As RC phone number is a VOIP number, Whatsapp doesn't allow to receive verification SMS on RC number. We are looking to check for any other alternatives, but as of now there's no solution as it's blocked from Whatsapp.
