See with having only the operator having the company text then if they are gone we have to use our line and then the customer gets our number and stops calling the main number

Suggestion: since there is a main number, generate a main company inbox for texts that all users have access to and can send and receive messages through the main company number instead of their extension. No texts get missed and when I client calls in there is a text chain for reference for whomever answers the call.
