Native Support and Provisioning for International Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Conversational SMS
Description:
We request that RingCentral expand its global SMS capabilities to fully support regulatory-compliant, two-way Peer-to-Peer (P2P) messaging outside of North America.
Currently, business users outside the US and Canada who attempt to engage in normal, 1-on-1 conversational text messaging with international clients experience delivery failures, silently dropped texts, or strict carrier blocking. In many international markets, carriers treat all business platform traffic as commercial spam unless dedicated P2P conversational routing and local geographic virtual number (DID) provisioning are explicitly supported.
Key Requirements:
International P2P Number Provisioning: Enable local geographic virtual numbers (DIDs) in non-US/Canada regions with two-way conversational SMS capabilities directly within the RingCentral Admin Portal.
Local P2P Direct-Route Carrier Alignment: Ensure conversational SMS traffic originates from vetted local carrier routes recognized strictly for 1-on-1 human interaction.
Conversational Interface Integration: Full integration across RingCentral MVP apps (Desktop, Web, and Mobile) allowing global staff to text international customers directly from their extension.
Delivery Transparency: Real-time delivery status for international P2P messages to inform users if an outbound text failed due to local carrier restrictions.

Global sales, support, and relationship management teams rely on fluid, two-way conversational texting (P2P). Lacking native international P2P SMS support forces overseas employees off RingCentral and onto personal devices, unmonitored messaging apps, or third-party workarounds—creating security risks, compliance gaps, and poor customer experience.

Peer-to-Peer (P2P) messaging represents organic, human-to-human, two-way communication. In regions that lack standardized A2P frameworks or enforce aggressive mobile carrier filtering, direct P2P capability is essential for several reasons:
