Do not require Direct In dial for users
Allow users/extensions to be created without assigning a Direct Inward Dial (DID) number
We have hundreds of users who do not require an individual DID/public phone number. Currently, assigning a DID to these users is mandatory, even though their role does not require callers to reach them directly.
We would like the ability to create and licence a user/extension without allocating a DID, while still allowing the user to make and receive calls through shared numbers, such as a Main Company Number or Call Queue.
Use case:
At many of our sites, all inbound external calls are directed to the advertised business number and answered by reception or a Call Queue. Staff receive calls via transfer or the Call Queue and therefore have no requirement for their own DID.
Making DID assignment optional would avoid allocating external numbers to users who do not need them and simplify number management for organisations with large numbers of users. It would also avoid rogue DID's being advertised or accidently used.
