We should be able to retrieve deleted text, especially now that it is so easy to slide right and delete.

your delete buttons for the texts are easily mistaken and no "are you sure you want to delete" is prompted, this could save many headaches and errors

Previously, about 7-8 months ago, when someone reply thru SMS it shows the history of the previous conversation, including those that have been deleted. Lately it doesn't.
