Make Messaging Permission in Custom Roles a Native Feature
The Composability process was launched in December of 2019 as a way to hide or remove the Messaging capability in RC App. Reference https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1rnsF2fsBVrLD2s1aYxnOrtudZFwII_DPYvXqN_YTvFY/edit?usp=sharing As new employees join RingCentral it has become evident that this process is not easily understood, forgotten, or never trained. You can do a search in various RC App support teams and find this as a common topic to this day where our employees continue to seek guidance on this process. The process has become a post sales drag on many resources in the company, especially SEs. The request is to make removing or hiding Messaging in RC App a native role permission in custom roles within Service Web without an extra step in the process that ends up involving the AE, Deals Desk, Finance, and RVPs. RingCentral natively supports custom role permissions for the following today without special internal processes:
Domestic Calls
International Dialing
Voicemail
Meetings
Desktop App
Mobile App
Phone App for Desktop
Messaging should be added to that native list for both “hide” and “remove” (although I’m not sure what kind of customer wants to hide the feature in the app, most want it removed from the app). It’s time to make this permission easier to administer for our customers and our internal employees that support sales and service. Let’s remove the internal process to better enable our customers and give time back to our employees.
