Feature Request: Enable Toll-Free to Toll-Free Call Support
Enable Support for Toll-Free to Toll-Free Calls on the RingCentral Platform
📋 Current Behavior:
At present, calls originating from a toll-free number to another toll-free number are not supported on the RingCentral platform. When a customer attempts this type of call, it fails without completing.
⚠️ Issue Description:
Customers using RingCentral toll-free numbers for outbound communications are unable to reach other businesses or endpoints that are also using toll-free numbers. This behavior is causing confusion and disruptions in communication, particularly for businesses whose clients or partners also rely heavily on toll-free lines.
🎯 Requested Behavior:
Allow toll-free numbers provisioned through RingCentral to successfully place outbound calls to other toll-free numbers, as long as they are valid and routable.
🔍 Use Case Example:
A healthcare service provider with a toll-free support number is attempting to contact a partner hospital or pharmacy that also uses a toll-free line. Because both numbers are toll-free, the call fails, creating a barrier to service coordination and patient support.
👥 Customer Impact & Justification:
Limits essential communication between businesses and service partners.
Particularly affects industries such as healthcare, finance, and large enterprise services where toll-free lines are standard.
Customers expect toll-free numbers to work just like regular lines, and the limitation is undocumented and non-intuitive.
Currently, the workaround is to use local or direct-dial numbers, which may not be available or practical.
🔐 Permissions / Security Impact:
None expected – the request is to extend standard outbound dialing capability to toll-free-to-toll-free scenarios, using existing telephony infrastructure and policies.
