Allow incoming calls to follow user ring settings even when the desk phone is set to Do Not Disturb (DND).
Currently, when a user enables Do Not Disturb (DND) on their physical desk phone (hard phone), the RingCentral system automatically interprets the user as unavailable. As a result, all incoming calls are routed directly to voicemail, and the configured ring settings or call forwarding rules set in the Admin Portal → User Settings are not followed.
The requested enhancement is to provide an option or behavior where, even if the desk phone is set to DND, the system will still follow the user’s configured ring settings — such as ringing their mobile phone, softphone app, or other forwarding numbers — before sending the call to voicemail.
This feature would allow users who prefer not to be disturbed on their desk phone to still receive calls on other devices or numbers as defined in their ring settings, ensuring uninterrupted call handling and flexibility.
Example Use Case:
A user working remotely may set their desk phone to DND to avoid office distractions, but still wants calls to ring on their mobile phone or desktop app. With the current behavior, enabling DND on the desk phone stops all call forwarding, causing missed calls. This feature would prevent that by allowing calls to follow the defined ring sequence despite the DND status on the desk phone.
