Remove the Incoming Call Default Setting
Provide administrators and extension users with the ability to clear or remove the system-enforced default settings for incoming call routing, allowing incoming call rules to be configured completely from scratch or set to a blank state.
Problem Statement
Unwanted Routing: The platform enforces pre-configured default rules for incoming calls (such as forced ring times, default greeting prompts, or automatic voicemail fallbacks) that do not fit every organization's workflow.
Manual Overrides Required: Users and admins must manually adjust multiple menus on every new extension or queue to bypass system defaults rather than starting from an unconfigured state.
Workflow Constraints: Strict default handling makes it difficult to implement custom third-party integrations, specialized routing paths, or silent ring behaviors without fighting existing platform defaults.
Proposed Solution
"No Default" Setting: Add an option under Incoming Call Handling to disable default rules entirely for an extension, call queue, or account.
Blank Slate Template: Allow administrators to set account-wide templates where incoming call rules start completely blank until explicitly defined by the admin.
Bulk Reset: Provide an option in the RingCentral Admin Portal to remove default incoming call settings across multiple extensions simultaneously.
Business Impact
Saves time for users during onboarding by eliminating the need to undo pre-set default behaviors.
Delivers complete control over incoming call flows for advanced call routing scenarios.
