Expand Voicemail Forwarding to Support Message-Only Extensions, Call Queues, and Groups
Request the ability for users to forward a voicemail to destinations other than a standard user extension. Specifically, add support for forwarding voicemails to:
Message-only extensions
Call queues
Shared voicemail groups or other group mailboxes
Current Behavior:
The current voicemail forwarding feature only allows users to forward a voicemail to another user extension.
Requested Enhancement:
Provide additional forwarding destination options so users can send voicemails to message-only extensions, call queues, or group mailboxes directly from the voicemail interface.
Business Justification:
Many organizations use shared mailboxes, message-only extensions, and call queues to manage department communications. Limiting voicemail forwarding to individual user extensions creates unnecessary manual work, requiring users to download and resend voicemail files or notify other teams through separate channels.
Supporting these additional destinations would:
Improve collaboration between departments.
Simplify voicemail sharing for customer service and support teams.
Reduce manual steps and administrative overhead.
Enhance workflows for organizations that rely on shared voicemail management.
Provide greater flexibility in routing and managing voicemail messages.
Use Case:
A receptionist receives a voicemail intended for the Billing department. Instead of forwarding it to an individual employee, they should be able to forward it directly to the Billing message-only extension or Billing call queue so the entire team can access and manage the message.
