Streaming Music / Message on Hold
Requesting consideration for streaming support of music / message on hold sources like Mood Media (Muzak), Easy on Hold, etc. Customers are requesting this feature due to the changing demands of the industry to get their messaging to current and prospective customers, and the limitations of embedded music on hold don't allow for the organization to change quickly enough.

Having the option to implement a streaming URL service for ‘music On on hold’ within the RingCentral platform would be extremely beneficial to us.
This live URL would be able to provide a multitude of company oriented advertisements that would be randomized with every single call with every single customer being placed on hold.
Services like Easy on Hold can provide that as long as the RingCentral platform supports it. -

We recently moved to RingCentral from another system which was able to loop the home message. Our ‘on hold’ voice messages will talk about services we offer and also current news related to our industry. It is 10 messages, each message 20 seconds long with music in between. With the RingCentral product, if I put a customer on hold, they will hear this message from the beginning. If I take them off hold and then put them back on hold, they will hear the same message from the very beginning again which means the important messages at the end of this recording will never be heard unless I keep the customer on hold for a very long time.
I would suggest two options to improve the RingCentral current system
-1: The message is played on a constant loop so the customer will jump into the messages at different stages of the recording and thus hear a different message each time. This should be controlled by ticking a box on the Admin settings to either start the recording from the beginning each time or go into loop mode.
-2: We have 8 voice messages. I should be able to upload 8 separate mp3's (or maybe more) and the system randomly picks 1 of the 8 to play so when the customer is on hold, they hear the message from the beginning of the recording, but it will be a different message each time they are on hold. -

Please allow users to post a URL for their hold / greeting music. This allows us to program changing songs based on changes in month, day, time etc, using external web hosting capabilities. The burden is on the user to make sure the URL is a valid working link to a song. This would greatly enhance the dynamic capability of the holding and greeting music and doesn't require much work to implement. Simply fetch the song at the URL!

I use the product to take calls for my blogcast. I want the people on hold to hear the live show. I want to pass the audio through one of my available audio channels on my PC.

It allows for constant play of music/message on hold. Not the current restart or play from the beginning file upload. this would require a SIP Integration.

Give users the option of various genres of music, like Apple does, or No music at all so I can concentrate and talk to collegues while holding

Agreed !! WHat I asked for - https://ideas.ringcentral.com/ideas/CUSTCOM-I-7181Enable Audio Stream to play for on hold + IVR to choose type of Music / Content1 - Essential enable Web based URL(s) or ATA input(S) of 1 or more Audio Streams for on hold music.2 - When a person is on hold they can select the type of music they listen to (like what Apple does as an example) ... through a IVR.3 - Enable a stream to also be able to be played on a single or multicast SIP enable speaker array and then be able to interrupt that (muting the stream) when an alarm or announcement needs to be made (like in a large department store).

We are a restaurant, and we recently switched over to ringcentral. We used to have with our old provider a "music on hold" which would play the music from our radio when we would place a customer on hold. The preloaded sounds are not that great, and the custom files for music are too short and it would be the same everytime.

Our “Music on Hold” (the advertising message or music that callers hear while on hold) runs about 6 minutes in length. With your system the message will “rewind” to the very beginning each time the client goes on hold rather fall to a random location during the message. This only allows callers the option to hear a portion of the first part of the message depending on how long they are on hold of course.Monotonous for repeat callers.SolutionSome of Ring Central’s competing service providers have solved this problem by having their contracted message on hold service providers break the message into 4 or 5 sound files.Using this method the message rotates or falls in random fashion so repeat callers don’t her the same old message every time they call or are put on hold.Is it possible to have this done with your system? The benefits for both client and RingCentral would be enormous.

We have hold music that has about 7 different topics. When somebody is put on hold they automatically just here the first topic as it always starts at the start. We would like to have these randomized so other topics in the hold music can play first - it the option to put a few different files of hold music in and they will all play randomly. This will allow for us to have multiple topics of hold music being listened to from our customers

Note, each example uses a different type of streaming music. If this item is considered, we could offer a "one size fits all" option that the customer could choose to implement. We are not advocating for every individual instance

The request is for the ability to point IVR/Queue/MoH messaging/music to a URL rather than a recording/uploaded file.
